AS plastic introduction
The scientific name of AS plastic is acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer. A polymer compound formed by the copolymerization of acrylonitrile and styrene. Generally contains 15%-50% styrene. AS plastic is made from acrylonitrile and styrene through bulk method, suspension method or emulsion method. There is no room for ambiguity. Transparent or translucent water-white particles. It has high transparency and generally has two background colors: light blue and light yellow. The relative density is 1.06-1.08g/cm3, the refractive index is 1.57, the equilibrium water absorption is 0.66%, and the heat distortion temperature is 82-105°C.

AS plastic features
AS plastic has thermoplasticity, high gloss, high transparency, high impact, not easy to change color and excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance. It has high rigidity and the elastic modulus is one of the highest among existing thermoplastics.
AS plastic also has high chemical stability, water resistance, oil resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, alcohol resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance.
AS plastic has higher impact strength and excellent heat resistance than polystyrene, and is well resistant to certain hydrocarbons that can stress crack polystyrene. Adding glass fiber additives to AS plastics can increase strength and resistance to thermal deformation, and reduce the thermal expansion coefficient.
The softening temperature of AS plastic is about 110°C, the bending deformation temperature under load is about 100°C, and the shrinkage rate of AS is about 0.3-0.7%.
Disadvantages of AS plastic
AS plastics are easily soluble in ketone solvents and certain aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons, resulting in greater brittleness.
AS plastic injection molding
The melting temperature of AS plastic during injection molding is 200-270°C. The material easily absorbs moisture. The recommended drying conditions before injection molding are 80°C and 2-4 hours. Its fluidity is slightly worse than PS, so the injection pressure is also slightly higher.
If thick-walled products are processed, a melting temperature lower than the lower limit can be used. Mold temperature is 40-80℃. For reinforced materials, the mold temperature should not exceed 60℃.
AS plastics are widely used in injection molding production, such as plastic fuel tanks, battery plastic casings, packaging containers, daily necessities packaging, etc.
